His Story: Boaz

My name means "Strength." My story may be found in the Old Testament in the book of Ruth. There I was, managing my field as usual. Suddenly, I noticed a beautiful woman gleaning in my field. Who was she? I had not seen her there before. Something about her captivated my attention and I just had to know. I quickly discovered her identity. I was touched when I learned of the kindness Ruth showed to Naomi. My heart became especially tender for Ruth. I only wanted her to glean in my field. Ruth surprised me one night and told me that she learned I was a near kinsmen. I knew that there was a kinsmen nearer than I, but I was determined to fight for Ruth. By the grace of God, Ruth and I were joined together in holy matrimony. To our union was born our son, Obed, the father Jesse, the father of King David. We were destined to be together, and although we couldn't live to see it, the promised Messiah was born through our blessed lineage. Our marriage was blessed because God was the center of our union.
